Such a Fool

______________________________

Such a fool am I, to place my heart
Upon your table for you to feast
On my hopes and fears and doubts
To fall on them like a slavering beast

The pedestal I had so lovingly put you on
Is now lying in a heap of rubble at my feet
And you no longer seem to care
That it fell down on me

So careless was I, to open a door
To my tender soul, a glimpse within
For you to slam so wickedly with a sneer
And curse me for my numerous sins

Never again will I waste a tear
Shed no more scales to please
I hope you now know just how sad it is
To see you on your hands and knees.
